An exciting opportunity has arisen for an energetic and inspiring new Headteacher to lead our Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ Lower School.

The current head is retiring after seven years and we are seeking a successor who will build on the school’s existing high standards whilst bringing to the role their strong leadership expertise, skills, ideas and commitment to excellence.

Woburn Lower School is a small rural school situated in the picturesque Georgian village of Woburn, within the Duke of Bedfordshire’s country estate. The school is a Grade 1 listed Tudor building which houses 60 pupils.

Woburn Lower School has a well-deserved reputation, benefitting from a valued and motivated specialist teaching staff, enthusiastic pupils, supportive parents and committed Governing Board.
The school has achieved 100% in phonics for the last four out of five years and continues to significantly out-perform both the Local Authority (and National) in its English and Maths KS1 SATS results. The school is well resourced and subsequently provides a positive and enriching learning environment for all its pupils.

Our next Headteacher will:

• Provide strategic leadership with a view to developing and improving an already outstanding school
• Work collaboratively to formulate the aims and objectives of the school
• Lead by example and model best practice regarding professional conduct, workload and personal development

Visits to Woburn Lower School are essential and warmly encouraged prior to application. Please contact Jenny Howe or Emma Lunn on 01525 290207 or alternatively via email at office@woburn-lower-school.co.uk to make an appointment to visit w/c 9th September 2019.  The school is obviously closed during the summer break, but emails are checked regularly.

Please return completed applications to Woburn Lower School by midnight, Sunday 15th September. Interviews for shortlisted candidates will take place on 24th and 25th September 2019 - second interviews may be required.

At Woburn Lower School we are committed to safer recruitment practices and to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children. All candidates should be aware that we follow safer recruitment policies and procedures so references will be requested prior to interview. We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from all sectors of the community.
